The Netherlands: paving the way to open access

The association of universities in The Netherlands (VSNU) presents an E-zine on the successful Dutch approach to achieve open access. Universities are working closely together to make scientific articles freely accessible to everyone. The steps on the road to achieve 100% open access can count on a lot of international attention. In addition to the marking of fifteen major milestones, this publication explains what open access does, the role of the publishers, how the negotiations are progressing between universities and publishers and what the success factors in the Dutch approach are.
