Online research and scholarly communication opens up opportunities that are still underutilised. Improved access creates a solid basis for the transfer of knowledge in education, knowledge generation for research, and knowledge valorisation for society. The central idea is that the results of publicly financed research should be available to the public.

This website showcases new opportunities in scholarly communication, advocates changes that recognize the potential of the networked digital environment, and encourages active participation by scholars and researchers to guide the course of change.

Collaboration
This website is developed by the joint forces in SURF, the collaborative organisation for research universities, research institutions and universities of applied sciences in the Netherlands aimed at breakthrough innovations in ICT and operating at a (inter)national level.
