LWW open access quota expected to be reached in third week of August 2025

LWW open access-quota waarschijnlijk bereikt in derde week augustus 2025

The national open access quota for Lippincott Williams & Wilkins (LWW) is expected to be reached in the third week of August 2025. After this point, authors affiliated with Dutch institutions will no longer be able to publish open access free of charge under the current Read & Publish agreement.

What happens next?

  • Articles accepted before the cap is reached will still be published open access at no cost.
  • Articles accepted after the cap is reached will incur article processing charges (APCs).
  • Authors can choose to pay the APC or decline open access.

Alternatives

  • Use the Taverne Amendment to make the accepted manuscript publicly available after six months.
  • Consider publishing in diamond open access journals or using institutional APC funding if available.
  • Contact your library for advice or support.
