Grant for national academic-led publication platform
The UNL-programme Strengthening Diamond Open Access in the Netherlands is thrilled to announce it has been awarded a generous €1.5 million grant from NWO Open Science NL!
This fund will enable us to set up a high-quality and future-ready national infrastructure for diamond open access publishing.
In partnership with UKB and SURF, we are eager to create a dynamic and community-governed publication platform, complete with a comprehensive services catalogue. This innovative infrastructure will be accessible for all Dutch university presses, research institutes, and other research organisations, empowering them to develop and publish their own articles, journals and (text)books.
The project proudly builds upon the robust academic publication infrastructures of the Netherlands University Presses (NUPs), and Openjournals, all of which have shown their unwavering commitment to open science principles. By using technology based on open-source software and adhering to diamond open access models and FAIR data principles, we are paving the way for a brighter future in open publishing. We are excited to contribute to a pluralistic, equitable and sovereign scholarly publishing landscape in our country!
