Updated forecast for Open Access publication caps (August 2026)
Based on the latest publication data (updated 6 August 2026), several national Open Access agreements are expected to reach their annual publication caps later this year. Once a cap has been reached, Article Processing Charges (APCs) will no longer be covered under the agreement.
The current forecasts are:
- Springer Nature: last week of September
- Emerald: last week of September
- Oxford University Press (hybrid journals): second week of September
- Oxford University Press (selected full Open Access journals): first week of November
- Lippincott Williams & Wilkins (LWW) – first week of October
- Taylor & Francis: mid-November
These dates are indicative and will be updated as publication patterns change. Authors planning to publish with one of these publishers are encouraged to check the latest status before submitting or completing the publication process.
For more information on publisher agreements and alternative Open Access routes, please check the latest status on the publisher deals page and in the Open Access Journal Browser, and consult your institution’s open access support or library before accepting any charges.
