Updated forecast for Open Access publication caps (October 2026)

Based on the latest publication data, updated 1 October 2026, several national Open Access agreements are approaching their annual publication caps. Once a cap has been reached, APCs (Article Processing Charges) will no longer be covered under the relevant agreement.

The current forecasts are:

• Springer Nature: 9 October
• Emerald: Mid October
• Taylor & Francis: 1st week of November
• Oxford University Press (selected full Open Access journals): Mid November
• Lippincott Williams & Wilkins (LWW) – first week of November

Caps already reached:

• Oxford University Press (hybrid journals)

These dates are indicative and will be updated as publication patterns change. Authors planning to publish with one of these publishers are encouraged to check the latest status before submitting or completing the publication process.
