As part of the DIAMAS project, a new guide has been published to help Diamond Open Access journals strengthen their operations, transparency, and overall quality.
The guide can be used to:
Understand the core quality and transparency criteria for Diamond OA publishing
Benchmark your journal against seven key components of DOAS
Prepare for inclusion in directories such as the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ)
Complement other tools for journal development and assessment
The guide provides a clear overview of essential requirements (marked as REQUIRED) and additional recommendations (DESIRED). These are organized around seven core components of scholarly publishing: funding; legal ownership, mission, and governance; open science; editorial management, editorial quality, and research integrity; technical service efficiency; visibility, communication, marketing, and impact; and equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging (EDIB), multilingualism, and gender equity.
